Western Australia science update: your Stile library is aligned for 2026
The Stile library is aligned with the revised Western Australian Science Curriculum.
The Stile library is now aligned with the revised Western Australian Science Curriculum. No need to spend hours rewriting lessons. Just copy the updated unit from the Stile library, and you’re ready to go.
Where you’ll see it
When you open the Stile library, you’ll notice WA Curriculum (New for 2026) in the curriculum drop-down menu.

This is now the default for WA schools and is where you’ll find the most up-to-date content for the new curriculum. Make sure you copy the updated units into your subjects so you’re teaching with our exciting new lessons.
What’s new in Stile for the revised WA curriculum
Stile units have been updated to address every aspect of the revised curriculum.

Ecosystems
Two new lessons have been designed to explore concepts with a clearer emphasis in the updated curriculum.
Students model quadrat sampling with a hands-on activity about measuring ecosystem health. This gives students a concrete way to think about ecological monitoring, rather than treating it as an abstract idea.

Learners are introduced to tropisms to understand how plants respond to their environment through adaptations. It helps clarify language about “behaviour” in plants, and gives students a clear framework to work with.
The Universe
A two-part Socratic seminar on the race to Mars gets students thinking and talking about space exploration. They’ll explore whether investing time and resources in space exploration makes sense given the significant challenges here on Earth. You’ll love the way students need to reason, listen to one another, and weigh up different perspectives.
Forces
Simple machines has had a thoughtful refresh, with a new infographic that brings all six simple machines together in one place. An added efficiency challenge provides the option to extend students by delving deeper into this concept.
First Nations perspectives and teaching support
First Nations histories and cultures have been integrated throughout these new updates. We know this is an area where teachers want to feel especially confident and well supported.
In units like Our Place in Space, The Immune System, Mixtures, and Waves, you’ll now find additional background information and links to carefully chosen external resources. These are there to support your planning and help you teach these lessons with care, without needing to do extra research in your own time.
If you’d like to go deeper, we’ve also shared a series of short pieces on how we approach First Nations content in Stile, and the thinking behind the choices we’ve made.
